Tufting with tulle patchwork and beaded embellishments, 2024

A hanging sculpture piece made for my recent exhibitions in Ulsan and Seoul in South Korea. Incorporating new techniques and taking loose inspiration from traditional Korean crafts, this new piece was inspired by precious stones and minerals as well as the colours and patchwork of Korean craft called “Jogakbo”. It features a lot of different tufted sections with a mesh patchwork window and beaded embellishments scattered around.

The beadwork takes inspiration from traditional pins and accessories worn during the dynastic periods.
